A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER PT.1
Hello, people! We are back with another black book experience (that means the book’s fire), and this month we have the highly requested... A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder. So enjoy!
MAJOR CHARACTERS:
Pippa - the teenage investigator
Raj - Sal Singh’s brother
Naomi - Sal’s best friend and Cara’s sister
Max - Sal’s friend and a major pain in the neck
The book opens up with Pippa Fitz-Amobi, a 17-year-old high school student in her final year. She’s given an EPQ (extended project qualification) at school, and she chooses to do her project on Andie Bell… the 17-year-old little miss perfect - everybody loves her - she has great hair Andie Bell, who was brutally murdered three years ago. Everyone knows who killed Andie… it was her 18-year-old boyfriend Sal Singh. Everyone knows he did it but no one knows why… well except for Pippa. She believes Sal was innocent. Anyways, Pippa walks up to the house of Sal Singh to interview his brother Raj. With great awkwardness, Pippa and Raj finally get talking, and he agrees to speak to her about Sal. Another thing… Sal unalived himself shortly after killing Andie.. or so they said. Pippa gets home and virtually interviews the journalist who covered Sal’s and Andie’s case… Stanley Forbes.
Stanley Forbes is a mixture of racist, a self-serving a**hole and white dude privilege (excuse the language, I just really hate that guy), so obviously he’s not gonna support the little brown kid who was “convicted” of murder so, she’s at a dead end. Pippa then goes on to interview the people who were with Sal the night he supposedly killed Andie. She finds out that Naomi and Max are currently in town and seeing as they were one of the people closest to Sal, it was a no-brainer interviewing them. She interviews Naomi first, and Naomi is a mess of tears, snots, and jittery hands (obviously Sal was her best friend, so talking about a dead friend who allegedly murdered his girlfriend isn’t really the best conversation). After Naomi, Pippa goes on to visit Max Hastings and interviews him. Max gives an account of the story, saying that him, Naomi, Sal, Millie, and Jake were all at Max’s house hanging out seeing that his parents were out of town. They were drinking, talking, playing some Xbox… you know… normal teenage stuff. Sal then decides to leave at around ten thirty to return home whilst Naomi goes MIA for at least 30 minutes. The next day they’re called in by the police for questioning regarding Andie’s disappearance. Everything checks out with Naomi’s story except the Naomi going MIA part (some wheels be turning). Pippa then goes on to do the most sensible thing… putting her best friend’s sister’s name as the number one suspect for murder of both Andie and Sal.
